Terms of Use
These terms are an agreement between you and Lab43 ("we"), an independent studio based in the United Kingdom, for the FocusGate app, its widgets and extensions, and this website. By using FocusGate you agree to them and to our Privacy Policy.
Last updated: October 2026
1. What FocusGate does
FocusGate is a to-do and focus app. It can use Apple's Screen Time to lock apps you choose until the tasks you set are done, on a schedule, or while a Focus Timer runs.
Locking depends on Apple's frameworks, your iPhone's settings and permissions, and your setup in the app. We can't promise that every app or website will always be blocked, that a lock can't be worked around, or that every reminder will arrive. FocusGate is a productivity tool, not a parental control, medical or safety service.
2. Who can use it
You need to be old enough to agree to these terms where you live, or have a parent or guardian's permission. FocusGate is for organising your own day on iPhones you own or control.
3. Your account
You sign in with Apple, Google or an email address. Keep your sign-in details safe and tell us at labfortythree@gmail.com if you think someone else has used your account. You can delete your account at any time in the app (You › Settings › Account › Delete account).
4. FocusGate Pro and payments
FocusGate is free to use. FocusGate Pro adds features and may be offered as an auto-renewing subscription or a one-time purchase. Everything is sold by Apple through the App Store; the price, billing period and any free trial are shown by Apple before you confirm.
- Payment is charged to your Apple Account when you confirm the purchase.
- A subscription renews automatically unless you turn off auto-renew at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can manage or cancel it in your Apple Account subscription settings.
- If you start a free trial, it becomes a paid subscription at the end of the trial unless you cancel before then.
- Deleting the app or your FocusGate account doesn't cancel a subscription.
- Refunds are handled by Apple under its terms.
- You can restore your purchase on another iPhone in Settings › Plans & Billing.
If Pro ends, nothing you created is deleted. Pro-only settings return to their free versions.
5. Apple's terms
If you got FocusGate from the App Store, Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies. Apple isn't responsible for FocusGate or its support.
6. Using FocusGate fairly
Please don't:
- try to break into, overload or interfere with FocusGate or our servers;
- copy, resell or reverse engineer the app, except where the law allows it;
- use FocusGate to harm, harass or deceive anyone, or send us unlawful content.
7. Your content
Your tasks, notes and other content are yours. You allow us to store and process them only to run FocusGate for you. If you send us ideas or feedback, we may use them to improve FocusGate without owing you anything for them.
8. Changes to FocusGate
We keep improving FocusGate, so features may change. We'll try to keep it running smoothly but can't promise it will always be available or free of errors. If we ever stop offering FocusGate, we'll tell you in advance where we reasonably can.
9. Ending these terms
You can stop using FocusGate and delete your account at any time. We may suspend accounts that seriously or repeatedly break these terms, after a warning where that's reasonable.
10. Your legal rights and our liability
If you're a consumer, you have legal rights in relation to digital content that is faulty or not as described, for example under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. Nothing in these terms affects those rights.
We don't exclude or limit our liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud. Otherwise, we're responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of us breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care and skill, but not for loss or damage that isn't foreseeable. FocusGate is for personal use, so we're not liable to you for any loss of profit, business or business opportunity.
11. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. You can bring proceedings in the courts of England and Wales; if you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring them in your local courts. If you live elsewhere, you keep the protection of the mandatory consumer law where you live.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms when FocusGate or the law changes. We'll post the new version here with a new date, and tell you in the app about important changes.
